My Profile
| David Murrell is an independent Technology Consultant with over sixteen
years experience in developing and integrating enterprise systems. His
recent engagements included developing enterprise strategies aligning
business and technology goals as well as architecting complex enterprise
solutions. He has experienced projects ranging from small, focused teams to
large, multi-phase efforts. Methodology experience has included traditional
waterfall, rapid prototyping, and iterative approaches. Dave has implemented
full life cycle solutions of both commercial package implementations and
custom-built applications. He has experience as both a lead architect and a
manager, giving direction and support to teams. Combined with years of both
product development and consulting experience, he has succeeded in providing
solutions for companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Ford
Motor Company, General Motors, and DTE Energy. |
| |
| As a consultant, Dave has provided a wide range of services including
creating technology strategies and roadmaps, providing solution architecture
services, and conducting technical evaluations and prototypes. During a
recent strategy and roadmap engagement, Dave established an overall
Enterprise Architecture to provide IT capabilities that are leveraged across
multiple business units and lines of business. The deliverable was presented
to executive management and used as input for budgeting and portfolio
management. On another recent project as a Solution Architect, Dave was
responsible for an enterprise application implementation that significantly
improved business performance and supported the business strategy. The
services provided consisted of defining the overall solution architecture,
detailing the enterprise integrations, and defining the data architecture to
support legacy data conversion for multiple production releases. |
| |
| Before returning to consulting, Dave worked for Ford Motor Company in
driving Enterprise Research and Development in Application Architecture and
Technology. In this role, he evaluated upcoming technology paradigms and
identified emerging technologies that supported Ford IT strategy. In order
to advance these technologies from the research to implementation, Dave
worked with major platform providers, implemented high quality
proof-of-concepts, and developed approaches to standardize and implement
these technologies within Ford Computing Environment. His focus was defining
and implementing an enterprise approach to Service Oriented Architecture (SOA),
Web Services, and Business Process Management (BPM), including process
orchestration and choreography considerations. |
| |
| Prior to Ford, Dave was the Director of Technology for the Xede
Consulting Group where he defined and applied the technology vision to
enable solution delivery across multiple clients. In addition, Dave led the
Architecture Center of Excellence (COE), where he was responsible for
managing all consultants in the architect role. Other responsibilities
included developing viable partner relationships, participating in solution
proposals, and working with the rest of the management team to modify
operational practices. |

Dave has earned the distinction of PMI
Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Sun Certified Enterprise
Architect for J2EE (SCEA), Sun Certified Java Developer (SCJD), Sun
Certified Java Programmer (SCJP), and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
